VG is Norway's most widely read newspaper, with over two million daily users online, mobile and in print. To deliver high-quality products and services, they have a culture that emphasizes user insight and feedback. They regularly talk to their users to learn how to improve existing and develop new services, and as a thank you for their time, they often give a gift card afterwards.
June Eurora Breian Herdal works with a team to develop new services at VG, and tells a little about why they reward test users. "We get incredibly valuable feedback from users who help us with product development. That's why it's important for us to reward test users with something that is valuable to them."
Gift cards are VG's preferred reward method, as they provide flexibility for the recipient. Juni highlights two particularly important factors:

Previously, the VG team used a less flexible service. “With our previous solution, we had to send out a code manually to each interview participant. It worked well for sending to a few recipients, but became very time-consuming when sending to larger groups,” says Juni.
