EY gave new employees a sustainable Easter greeting with Glede

EY is an international consultancy firm with over 2,000 employees in Norway. They help their clients with a range of consulting services, including auditing, strategy and law.

Every year, EY hires hundreds of bright minds from universities and colleges around the world. They want all future colleagues to have the best possible experience leading up to their start date. In the past, EY has sent physical gifts and postcards as a reminder around Easter time. This has also been an important initiative that has helped to build a closer relationship with the students.

Marie Øglænd and Linn Sara Furu work with recruitment at EY and summarize some of the challenges with the student gifts:

• Incorrect address information: "Many students often change their address based on their place of study and in connection with exchanges. Unfortunately, this has led to many gifts being returned." ‍.
• Not very sustainable: "With a strong focus on sustainability in the company, this solution has not been the most sustainable. This was something we wanted to improve." ‍.
• Time- and resource-intensive: "We have previously spent a lot of time on the gifts and in some cases - more than necessary."

EY has a strong focus on sustainability, and it was this in particular that triggered them to use Glede.

They estimate that Glede has saved the recruitment team at EY over half the time they previously spent giving gifts to new hires.

"We've probably saved a lot of time, both on the preparations in advance and the actual mailing. It made the job of sending out gifts significantly easier.

Easy to use for students

"We've received incredibly positive feedback from the students. Several have reported that it was easy to use the gift card," they say.

Marie believes Glede can be a useful solution for EY in the future, also in other contexts than recruitment.

"It would be relevant for us to use Glede as an onboarding measure for new employees again, for example as a Christmas greeting. In addition, we will consider Glede for internal gift mailings, both for larger and smaller occasions."
